Advising

ART CHANGE OF MAJOR/CONCENTRATION
For the concentrations of:
Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Interior Design, Multimedia Design, and Studio Art
Please include the following items to request a Change of Major into the Art major or a change of concentration.
- Change of Major form (obtained from Advisement Center – 11 Bowman Hall)
You must have a 2.0 Stout GPA, and a 2.5 or higher GPA for all art, design, and art history courses to be admitted into the art program.
- Unofficial transcript printed off from Access Stout or from Registration & Records
- Personal Essay Component: A personal essay of 500 words or less must accompany your application.
1. Discuss the major reasons and influences leading you to pursue your undergraduate work relative to a specific concentration within the BFA in Art program.
2. In addition to stating your goals, tell us how your work will benefit your community and how your chosen field will impact culture in the future.
Along with your printed essay, please include a digital copy saved as either a Word document (DOC), or an Adobe Acrobat (PDF) file, included on your CD-ROM.
- Visual and Creative Component: A minimum of five (5) and a maximum of ten (10) high quality, high-resolution photographs or digital scans of your original art works are to be submitted in either JPEG or TIFF formats, and saved onto a CD-ROM. Orientation of your images can be either portrait or landscape. No prints necessary.
Changes to the Art major are considered twice a year: (Late applications will not be considered)
- March 1st
- October 1st
Freshmen can only apply for a Change of Major/Concentration once they have obtained a UW-Stout Grade Point Average (GPA); therefore, you cannot apply until after you have completed one semester of study.
All four (4) items above must be submitted by the deadline date to:

ASPIRE -
Student Support Services (ASPIRE and Disability Services) assists students and improves campus climate in order to increase the retention and graduation of first-generation college students and student receiving Pell grants through financial aid or students having disabilities. Career Services
If you are transferring in as a sophomore or junior you will need to create an effective resume, cover letter, or portfolio. For most majors you will want to find a Co-op/Internship. Why not use state-of-the-art search and interview technology to find positions regionally, nationally, and globally? If you have never heard of Employon, Reference USA, Interview Steam, or Going Global, you will want to contact Career Services.

Honors policy
Graduating with Honors
Undergraduates Honors are based upon scholarship. The following designations are used:
| Cum Laude | 3.5 -- 3.699 grade point average |
| Magna Cum Laude | 3.7 -- 3.899 grade point average |
| Summa Cum Laude | 3.9 -- 4.000 grade point average |
A minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 must have been earned in all credits completed at UW-Stout and additional credits accepted at UW-Stout, as indicated on the transcript and Degree Audit, from all previous institutions attended. For commencement purposes, the cumulative grade point average earned at the end of the semester preceding the commencement ceremony will determine recognition at the commencement ceremony. However, honors will be officially determined when all coursework has been completed. Honors will be listed in the student's transcript and will appear on the diploma.

UW-Stout and University Housing maintain nine residence halls on-campus. Each residence hall creates its only community and offers different experiences from the others. Our housing goal is to provide affordable, well-maintained and comfortable living environments and we believe we do this with our residence halls.

The Office of International Education serves international students and scholars at UW-Stout. The office provides professional assistance and information for: academic, immigration, financial and professional matters. To ensure that students become well integrated into the community, the office also provides new student orientation before each semester commences.

Math Lab
The Math TLC is where UW-Stout students learn basic math skills in a people-oriented, technology-enhanced environment. Teachers start daily classroom sessions with a short lecture, then students begin online homework assignments with help from teachers and specially trained peer tutors.
Parking
Permits are required to park on campus. There are also streets that haveparking meters.
