Students of Service - Answer the Call!
Whether you call it volunteering, service-learning or plain old civic responsibility, there is a great need in Dunn County for people to respond to human and environmental sustainability needs. How do you do this?
Answer the Call!
Watch for “S.O.S.- Answer the Call!” announcements in the daily campus e-mail, or check the website at ( -- ) or orgsync at ( -- ), or on the poster wall outside of 133 MSC.
Requests
Every week requests are made for assistance. Some are short-term, one time opportunities, and some are for a lengthier commitment.
Examples of local needs include the following:
- On-going collection of items to send to deployed military personnel and their families
- Tutoring students at the Middle School and with Project JumpStart at the Senior Center
- Walks, marches, and runs that raise funds and awareness for special projects
- Lakeshore, highway and trail clean-up projects
- American Red Cross Blood Drive (locally sponsored by Gamma Sigma Sigma and Chi Lambda)
- Minnesota Reading Corps
- Bridge to Hope domestic violence shelter
- Inter Faith Volunteers (food pantry, homeless shelter, and home visit assistance)
- Work with Americorps/VISTA staff member Jake Vennie-Vollrath on local sustainability projects
- Take a alternative spring break tour – learn about civil rights and civic responsibility outside of Menomonie…
- And more!
