UW-Stout does not have an August or January commencement ceremony, but you have the option of participating in either the May or December ceremony that immediately precedes or follows your graduation term.

"Walk-Throughs" Only:

Students who have met the requirements listed below are occassionally approved by the Graduate School to participate in the ceremony prior to degree completion.

  1. Obtained the following Graduate School approvals:
    1. Application for Degree Candidacy and Program Plan
    2. Appointment of Research Adviser/Chair and Committee,
  2. Registered and paid fees for all course work required for the degree, as indicated on the program plan,
  3. Completed all courses (except the research report), with the appropriate grades assigned by the end of the term for which commencement participation is requested.

Notes:

  1. Participation in commencement ceremonies does not mean that you have graduated!
  2. When you submit this application a one-time, non-refundable $30 graduation fee will be applied to your billing statement during the term of your graduation. This fee covers the diploma, diploma cover and other items associated with commencement (not graduation regalia).
